Enum ParsingEffort

Namespace
LMKit.Document.Parsing
Assembly
LM-Kit.NET.dll

How much work a DocumentParser puts into each page: the trade-off between the time a document takes to parse and the fidelity of the result.

public enum ParsingEffort

Fields

Low = 0

The least time per page, for high-volume ingestion where throughput matters more than the last points of fidelity.

Medium = 1

A balance between time and fidelity, suited to most documents. The default level.

High = 2

The most faithful result, for documents where every table, chart and heading counts, at the highest cost per page.

Minimal = 3

No model: each page is read from the text the document carries, with OCR for the pages and pictures that carry none, and structured into headings, paragraphs, lists and tables from that text. Word documents, HTML pages, e-mails and plain text are read from their own structure. Nothing is downloaded and nothing runs on a graphics device, so a page costs what extracting its text costs, for indexing at volume on any machine.

Remarks

An effort level is the only decision a caller makes about a parse. What the engine does at each level belongs to the engine and improves from one release to the next; a higher level spends more time on a typical document and aims at a more faithful result.

More levels may be added over time. Member values are stable and safe to persist.
