Beside = 0

The mark aspect-fits a slot at the left and the lines start right of it, top-aligned - the historical composition.

Stacked = 1

The mark sits above the lines, both left-aligned and centered together in the rectangle, the lines spanning its full width: the mentions read under the signature, never beside or over it. Needs a native library that carries the layout; an older one composes Beside.
